Mercedes-Benz has launched two SUVs in India – the Mercedes-AMG G63 Edition 463 and Mercedes-AMG GLS 63. While the G 63 ‘Edition 463’ is priced for Rs 2.17 Crore, the GLS 63 is priced for Rs 1.58 Crore (both prices ex-showroom, Pune).
By this launch Mercedes expands its SUV range to 8 products . Mercedes has witnessed an overwhelming response in their AMG portfolio .
The GLS 63 AMG is a high-performance derivative of the firm’s fullsize GLS SUV. It uses the 5.5-litre biturbo V8 , and develops 577bhp and 760Nm of torque. The engine comes paired with a seven-speed automatic transmission that channels power to all wheels – the torque split is rear-biased with a 40:60 ratio between front and rear axles. Performance wise, you’ll hit 0-100km/h in just 4.6 seconds ,and comes with the unique AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension with ACTIVE CURVE SYSTEM roll stabilisation , red paint brake callipers, Panoramic sliding sunroof, adaptive High Beam Assist Plus, AMG Bodystyling, Harmon Kardon Logic 7 surround sound system, THERMOTRONIC automatic climate control, Temperature-controlled cup holder .
The new Mercedes-AMG G 63 is equipped with a supercharged 5.5-litre V8-engine developing 563 hp @ 5500 rpm and a maximum torque of 760 Nm @ 5000 rpm. The SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds, and has an (electronically limited) top speed of 210 km/h , and comes with Stainless-steel underride guard, 21-inch 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels in matt black with high-sheen rim flange, AMG carbon-fibre trim and 2-tone seats designo black leather or designo light brown leather with side bolsters in black carbon leather.
