Union Minister for Human Resource and Development Prakash Javadekar and Union Minister for Urban Development, Poverty Alleviation and Information and Broadcasting M Venkaiah Naidu jointly laid foundation stone for Regional Institute of Education (RIE) of NCERT at Chavatapalem in Venkatachalam mandal of SRSP Nellore district on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion Venkaiah Naidu said that this is the 6th RIE in the country and would cater to the states of AP, Telangana, Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Stressing on the importance given to skill development by NDA government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi he said that the government is committed to promote quality education.
” Wealth may not bring education but education will surely bring wealth. Education should develop patriotism, bring in social awareness, nurture environment and develop human values,” said Naidu speaking on the occasion. He thanked the state government for providing 50 acre plus land to the institution. He appealed to HRD minster Javadekar to start RIE from the next academic year itself, even in rented building, instead of waiting for completion of construction of a new building.
Earlier Union minister for HRD Javadekar said that the RIE would provide pre-service and in-service training to teachers besides offering 4-year B.Sc, B.Ed programme, regular B Ed programs and also doctoral programs in education. The Institute would have a multipurpose demonstration school with 1500 students’ capacity and a vocational centre besides sports and computer facilities.
