2012 is heading for a finish and expected we had tonnes of films this year. Stars, directors and heroines all cast a spell on the movie buffs. There were hits and those on which there were high expectations sank at the box office without a trace. Mahesh Babu, Ramcharan, Pawan Kalyan all had a reasonably good success at the box office but now two people are vying for the top position in Tollywood and they are Mahesh Babu and Pawan Kalyan.
Dhookudu showed the box office stamina of Mahesh Babu and Businessman established him as the king of Tollywood with two back to back hits. It not only got money for all the distributors but earned rave reviews as well. Both Dhookudu and Businessman collected 120 crores. Seetamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chetty is to be released this year in December but had to be pushed back for inadvertent reasons. If the film had released this year and become a hit, Mahesh would have been the indisputable numero uno
Close on the heels looking for the top position is Pawan Kalyan, his single dialogue makes his fans go berserk and imagine if he were to reel dialogues laced with punch and masala, the movie would cross a range. There is a talk that Gabbar Singh crossed the Magadheera mark and collected 80 crores. Cameraman Ganga Tho Rambabu came immediately but was ridden with controversy on the issue of references to Telangana. But even then it crossed the 50 day run at many theatres.
Both the heroes are level headed and don’t let success get into their head.Extremely balanced they keep their focus on giving entertainment and pleasing the fans. It doesn’t matter which ever hero occupies the throne because both of them deserve the position. Let’s hope 2013 brings them more laurels and more business to Tollywood.
