President Obama’s farewell address was emotional and tearful. In his farewell address last night in Chicago there were many poignant moments. His speech thanking wife Michelle and daughters were really touching. Thanking his wife Michelle, President said that for the past 25 years, she has been not a wife and mother to two kids but his best friend. He added that she took on a role she had not asked for and did that with grace, grit and style, and good humor. He said that she had made the White House a place that belongs to everybody and ended that a new generation sets its sights higher because it has Michelle as their role model. Obama thanked her saying she has made him proud and the the country too proud!
Thanking his daughters, Malia and Sasha, President said: under the strangest of circumstances, you have become two amazing young women, you are smart and beautiful, but more importantly, you are kind and thoughtful and full of passion. You wore the burden of years in the spotlight so easily. Of all that I’ve done in my life, I’m most proud to be your dad.
Sasha Obama could not make her trip to Chicago. Malia who sat by Michelle’s left was seen wiping her tears as father said these. Obama’s tribute to his deputy, Vice President Joe Biden, was another tearful one. Obama said: To Joe Biden, and then wiped his tear to continue: “the scrappy kid from Scranton who became Delaware’s favorite son: You were the first choice I made as a nominee, and the best. Not just because you have been a great vice president, but because in the bargain I gained a brother. We love you and Jill like family, and your friendship has been one of the great joys of our lives.”
