Review : ABCD – A Barely Cooked FooD with no masala

Allu Sirish has been continuously trying hard to become a hero material. In order to do so, has come up with yet another film titled “ABCD”. Since none of his movies didn’t go so well at box office, pinned lot on this film. Let’s find out whether he lived up to the expectations.

Story:-

Avi (Allu Sirish) is an “American Born Confused Desi” as the title suggests, who has grown up in riches knowing neither the value of money nor the life. Sent to Hyderabad by his father (Naga Babu) to understand the meaning of life and re-discover himself. What happens in India, and what changes it brings eventually is what the movie is about.

Analysis:-

It never feels going by the flow rather feels artificial; lacks of proper masala to engage the audiences in the theatres. Director seems to have missed logics bluntly. The film is about a rich life lived guy suddenly left out with no money .How would he be able to survive without sufficient money in hand. He has to survive with 82/- daily. But his get up doesn’t t look like the one who don’t have money.

Antagonist runs factories in Dubai, but when he has to contest the election he is shown no other option left to cumulate money other than collecting donations from the students. When look at it over all, looks basic point is left behind by the director.

Characterizations Justification:-

When compared to his previous films, Allu Sirish looks way better and does his role well. Performance wise, he has improved a lot and is now at ease in front of the camera. Sirish has a good comedy angle in him and that has been captured well in this film

Vennela Kishore is hilarious in the role of a news reporter. His body language and the manner in which he evoked the spoof comedy of the TV reporter is way too good. But sadly, his role is short lived. The first half of the film has some fun during the first half an hour. Rukshar Dhillon looks natural and was neat with her performance. Comedian Bharath was decent but he was not utilized properly.

Raja Chambolu who played the main villain is quite impressive. He is a very gifted actor and it will be good to see him getting more bigger roles in the coming days. Kota Srinivasa Rao was fine and so were the other supporting actors. The hotel scenes in the first half featuring Harshvardhan evoke decent fun.

Technical Aspects:-

Production values of the film are just okay and could have been better. The camera work is passable but the music and background score are top notch. Dialogues are very good and have been written with decent humor. Sirish has been dressed well in the film.

The music by Judah Sandhy is neat. The highlight of the album without any doubt is “Mella Mellaga Gundello” which is not only a success audio wise but also visually. The background score is alright. The cinematography is decent. It gives a gritty feel in parts which could have been worked upon in better fashion. The editing is okay. The writing takes a cliché approach and is a significant reason, along with the story, to get a routine feel to the movie.

Coming to the director Sanjeev, he has done just an okay job with the film. He starts the proceedings on an interesting note and holds the first half well. But he loses track in the second half and narrates this part in a haphazard manner with not many proper emotions.

Positives:-

* Comedy in parts
* Second Half
* Music Partly

Negatives:-

* Routine story line
* Predictable story and screen play

Verdict:-

It’s a half baked food item., sometimes you can’t avoid having it when you are hungry. In short, it’s not a bad film. A Onetime watch for sure.
