Review : Enthamanchivadavura- A slow paced emotional drama

Nandamuri Kalyanram is all set to test his luck for Sankranthi for the first time in his career with a family entertainer titled Entha Manchivaadavuraa. Directed by National award winner Satish Vegesna. Nandamuri Kalyan Ram’s Career is always uneventful. The actor recently slimmed down a lot and is concentrating a lot on his styling. He got the much-needed hit with his last film, 118, and is keen on keeping up the success.Let’s find out how this film turns out for him.

Story: –

Balu(Kalyan Ram) loses his parents at very initial stage of his life, and all his relatives leave him alone. Realising this, he starts an emotion supplier business with his friend( Mehreen). The concept of their company is to send people as close relatives and confiscate all the problems in their lives. In one of the case, Balu goes as a son to Tanikella Bharani’s house and gets into deep trouble featuring a sand mafia kingpin (Rajeev Kanakala). The rest of the story is as to how Balu solves all his problems and get going with his life.

Analysis:-

The first half of the film starts well but very soon slips into boredom with disappointing comedy and emotions which do not work. The second half dips further as the comedy track and Sarath Babu’s episode tests the patience of the audience. The conflict point also did not work due to the poor characterization of the baddie. The pace is too slow, and the movie is packed with several boring scenes. The Climax is another letdown. Entha Manchivaadavuraa is an outdated watch and may make some bucks due to the festival’s advantage.

The first half is better among the two as the opening build-up, and the introduction to core concept has one engaged, albeit temporarily. The problem starts when the basic idea is explained in detail. Instead of seriousness, it evokes an unintentional chuckle. Still, we move to the interval after knowing what Entha Manchivadavura is all about. The intermission part is neatly done.

The second half, unfortunately, lacks the little engaging factor provided in the first. It further adds new blocks with the same ‘concept’. At one point, we get a feeling of watching multiple short films of various lengths one after the other with the common topic of the emotional supplier. A couple of blocks introduced for drama feel manipulative. The same feeling gets overemphasised as the narrative progresses towards the end. The lack of a cohesive story undoes all the message that the director so badly wants to convey.

However, The concept of the film is drawn from a hit Gujarati film and it is good and has been set up well. Kalyan Ram is perfect in his role as a good samaritan and does well throughout the film.

Performances: –

Nandamuri Kalyan Ram has done a decent job in this film. He tried hard to carry the film on his shoulders. There are lot of sentimental scenes in the movie and tried his best. He looked class and stylish. Mehreen Kaur is a total waste. She has no expressions in her face. Vennela Kishore is the only saving grace in the movie. Nellore Sudarshan is Okay. Rajiv Kanakala with the talent he possess could have done a better job. Talented artists like Tanikella Bharani, Suhasini, Sharath Babu, Vijay Kumar are wasted in this life less script.

Technical: –

The production values are decent but the camerawork of the film is just about ok. The dialogues are very good and the production design is neat. The screenplay goes for a toss as there is no grip in the proceedings as the scenes come in one after the other with no effect. Music by Gopi Sundar is superb as all the songs have been shot quite well. Editing is okay and so was the art direction.

Coming to the director Satish Vegensa, he has adapted the Gujarati film well and set it up nicely in the Telugu nativity. He also starts the film well and brings an intriguing factor as to what is happening in the emotion supplier business. But in the second half, he loses the plot and falls for the commercial plot and degrades the film.

Advantages:

Kalyan Ram’s performance

Vennela Kishore few comedy scenes

Movie plot

Disadvantages:

Boring screenplay

Dull narration

Verdict: –

After ‘Shathamanam Bhavathi’ and ‘Srinivasa Kalyanam’, director Satish Vegesna hasn’t tried to break the mold and once again makes a family entertainer though he tried to infuse some action elements into the script. The family emotions are dealt well and the film has some very good moments. But because of the slow narration audience may get boredom. Much emphasis is on sentiment and some sections of audiences may not like it. It’s a different attempt by Kalyan Ram though, considering his action image.
