Review : Takes Advaita into the hearts of audience

For all those who rue lack of movies which uphold and propogate our great Indian values and traditions, here is a boon in the form of Jagadguru Adishankara movie. Jagadguru Adishankra movie wakes us all from our sleep and introduces us to a new awakening. It explains what we have been missing all these days. Adishankara movie introduces us to a new set of film makers for whom film making is not just a commercial activity but a holy mission. No one denies the fact that movies are for entertainment and there are high stakes involved in film making. But at least there has to be some meaningful content and thought provoking moments in a movie. It should at least raise one question in our mind and induce us to soul searching. Adishankara is such a type of movie which haunts us after viewing and drives us to self examination and enlightenment.

This is the story of Adishankra who taught Advaita to the world. From childhood onwards Adishankra dreams of becoming a saint. That’s the only thing he longs for. Right at his birth, realiastion dawns upon him that death is as imminent as birth. But his life span is just 4 years. Rudraksha Swamy (Mohan Babu) keeps saving Adishankra by giving years in his life to Adishankra. Moved by father’s death, Adishankara sets out on the journey to propagate the message of Advaita to this world. What experinces did he face in his journey, what did he learn from those experiences, What did he teach this world, how did he get united with Siva forms story.

This is not a movie. A lesson for life. We get enlightened through coversations between two characters. Every scene is a gem. Who is God? Does god has a form? If God is one then why these many forms and names? Many questions like these spring up when Chandaludu and Adishankara converse with each other. The conversations between Madana mishrudu (Sai Kumar) and Adishankara shatter our wrong beliefs. Director Bharavi has crafted every scene in the journey from Adishankara to Jagadguru pretty perfectly.
It’s appreciable that many senior actors like Nagarjuna, Mohan Babu, Sai Kumar, Suman, Srihari have come forward to act in a thought provoking movie like this, without thinking about the duration and importance of their roles. Their suport and passion for a good movie is really commendable. All these seniors have slipped into their roles quite effortlessly. Nagarjuna’s character is a small one but a memorable one. Sai Kumar has once again excelled. Director has cleverly used Sai Kumar’s scene in presenting the greatness of Advaita while causing relief at the same time.

Bharavi has done an excellent job as a writer. Even as a director he has done decent job. But care should have been taken in case of visual effects. Visual effects are passable. VFX have been used at some instances, when they are not needed. As a result naturality got affected. Compared to first half second half slows down a bit. But pace picks up in the climax and compensates. Nag Srivatsava tunes are nice. Even backgorund score is impressive. ‘Maya..maya..’ song picturised on Srihari explains the essence of Vedanta. All songs are fine. Movie could have been perfectly paced if scenes were trimmed.

It has been a long time since families have come to theatres to watch a movie. In fact such type of movies are not coming. Adishankara fills that gap. Adishankara’s life is an inspiration for youth. He has shown what can be achived even at a tender age. If youth comes forward and watches this movie, more such good movies will come in the future. It’s not enough to fire at vulgar movies. We have to even save good movies.
