Amazon.in’s Great Indian Sale, the first sale in the new year of 2017 received amazing response.
About 200 percent of growth was witnessed in the sales when compared to normal day sales, with sales during the event exceeding even those in Diwali season. The first Great Indian Sale in 2017 by Amazon was held between January 20 and 22.
According to the information provided by Amazon insiders, not just were sales increased but even cashless transactions saw a rise and encouraging activity was witnessed from Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.
“Amazon’s Great Indian Sale set new benchmarks. Daily units exceeded Diwali sales. Building upon the triple digit Year-over-Year growth, the Sale witnessed 200 percent growth over normal day. More customers chose cashless transactions than ever before with 30 times more customers topping their Amazon Pay balance compared to normal day. This shows that Indian consumers are preferring Amazon and the trend of online shopping is growing encouragingly,” said Amit Agarwal, VP and Country Head, Amazon India.
Amazon Great Indian Sale resulted in growth of 185 percent in case of new customer acquisition. The thing to be noted here is, the growth was more in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.
Coming to the articles bought during sale, it was a diverse mixture across all categories – from TVs, refrigerators, mobile phones to international brands in fashion and home products were bought.
