Tollywood is witnessing a never-before-seen box office situation during Sankranti 2026. Usually, only two or three big films release during the festival, but this year five major Telugu movies hit theatres one after another. Prabhas’ The Raja Saab, Chiranjeevi’s Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu, Ravi Teja’s Bharta Mahasayulaku Vignyapthi, Naveen Polishetty’s Anaganaga Oka Raju, and Sharwanand’s Nari Nari Naduma Murari created huge excitement. Surprisingly, four out of five films received positive talk, leaving audiences confused about which movie to watch first.
The festival rush is especially high in rural areas, where people are travelling long distances to reach theatres. Most theatres are running houseful shows, and online tickets are getting sold out within minutes. Due to limited screens, distributors are struggling to give enough shows to every film, even adding late-night and early-morning shows in some places. Though collections are strong, theatre shortage is stopping films from reaching their full potential. Trade experts say this Sankranti will be remembered as both a historic box office success and an important lesson for future releases.
